Website Evaluation

St. Josephs Hawks Official Athletic Site

When evaluating a website there are four main elements you need to look for. When creating my website evaluation I broke it down the four separate categories into design, content, technical elements and credibility. The four elements were further broken down into minor categories that are needed to have a good website.
I evaluated the St. Josephs University Official Athletic Site and overall I think it was a great site. The layout was simple to use and at ease of finding everything I wanted to was great. Being a big time division 1 school with a huge following of their athletic teams I thought this was important for them. Everyone that I know of who has had experience with the site has nothing but good things to say about it. One thing I would change is the placement of their advertising because it’s the first thing you see when you go to the website and that takes away from the University’s athletic program.

5 Best Eateries in Hampton Bays, New York

Villa Paul

162 West Montauk Highway
Hampton Bays, NY 11946
(631) 728-3261

The Villa Paul Restaurant is on of the oldest family owned restaurants in my town. In 1804 a farmer and his wife bought the property the Villa Paul is now on for $2,200 and built their family a mansion. In the early 1920’s a man named Paul Villa, a successful restaurateur from a small town in Italy bought the home. He transformed the judge’s mansions into the Italian restaurant known today as the Villa Paul. In 1965, Paul Villa’s cousin and my great uncle, Domenico Pensa, bought the Villa Paul. Since then the restaurant has been owned by three generations on Pensa’s.

Since the Villa Paul was the former home of a judge, it has a very unique feel and atmosphere. The library of the former mansion serves as the restaurants main dining room. The dining room gives off a very warm and welcoming feeling that sometimes allows you to forget you are eating at a restaurant! One of the best features of the restaurant is a giant stone fireplace, located in the main dining room. There is nothing better than sitting next to the roaring fireplace enjoying a delicious Italian meal.

The founder of the Villa Paul was from a small town in Italy, so it would only make sense that the restaurant serves classic Italian dishes. The cooking styles and recipes that Paul Villa brought over straight from Italy have been passed on and taught to all the chefs. All of the pasta dishes are amazing because the pastas are homemade and made fresh every morning. My personal favorite pasta dish is the homemade ravioli! Other classic dishes served at the Villa Paul are Chicken Parmesan, Veal Marsala, Chicken Cacciatore, and Veal Saltimbocca. The Villa Paul also offers some local favorites such as backed clams, broiled fresh fish and roast duck.

The Villa Paul is the complete package because if offers great food and a great environment. It is definitely my favorite in town.

(631) 594-3544

Rumba is one of the newer restaurants in town and has only been open for about 5 years. Rumbas main goal is to offer patrons a fun and relaxed atmosphere, as if you were on vacation on a tropical island. Rumba is located on the Shinnecock bay and offers wonderful outdoor dining on their deck. There is a constant stream of tropical music playing and the wait staff is extremely energetic. One unique feature at Rumba that really separates them from the other local restaurants is the full Rum bar, which is stocked with Rums from various locations around the world. Every night Rumba offers an exotic drink special and on some occasions there is also a live Reggae band.

The food at Rumba follows the tropical, exotic theme as well.  The dishes at Rumba are always colorful and bursting with flavor and ingredients fresh from the islands.  Some of their most popular appetizers include duck empanadas and Dominican ribs.  As for entrees, rumba serves anything from Mahi Mahi to a jerk chicken platter to chili rubbed pork tenderloin.  After a delicious meal guest can either have a desert such as Key Lime Pie or perhaps try the infamous Rum Punch, Rumba’s unique spin on beer.  Either way all who choose to dine at Rumba are guaranteed to have a great meal and an even better time!

History of the Internet

The internet began once electronic computers were invented in the 1960's. It was started when the United States Defense Department developed ARPAnet (Advanced Research Projects Agency network) which was a network of computers designed to withstand partial outages during the Cold War and as a way for government researchers to share new findings and information. In the 1980's when desktop computers became more popular organizations wanted to link the local area networks (LANs)

to the ARPAnet. The idea was that if everyone could link the computers together through the internet and everyone would benefit. To make the connection of the computers more speedy the National Science Foundation (NSF) created 5 super computing centers in 1986. By 1990 ARPAnet had been replaced with NSFnet as more and more countries around the world used NSFnet.
In 1991 the National Research and Education Network (NREN) was founded and the World Wide Web was released. At this time the internet was still mostly used by scientist but started to attract more of the common person with the addition of the World Wide Web. When Netscape was introduced in 1994 the interest and use of the World Wide Web took off. The internet today is the same as it was in 1994 but with much faster speeds and many more websites.
