Nike X Doernbecher Air Jordan 5

Nike and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital are paying tribute to 2012 Doernbecher Freestyle Program patient Isaac Arzate and his family by releaseing the limited edition Doernbecher Air Jordan 5 Retro.
Isaac was a talented young athlete whos acomplished so much in such a short life. He pitched a no-hitter in baseball and had undefeated season in basketball. In January 2012 Isaac suffered a heart attack at basketball practice and was sent to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Doctors discovered a abnormal problem that is the most common causes for heart attacks in children.

After recovering from open heart surgery Issac was invited to be a part of the 2012 Doernbecher Freestyle Program where he started to sketch his own design of the Air Jordan 5 Retro. Issac became much healthier durring this time and was even allowed to go watch his basketball team play a few games. Tragically, Issac suffered another heart attack in April of 2012 that he did not survive.

Nike, with help from Issacs parents finished the shoe with all of the inspirations from Issacs original sketches and is set to release on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Nike.com with all sales benefiting the Doernbecher Children's Hospital.
